The procedure can be done under local anesthetic with intravenous sedation or general anesthetic based on the patient’s desire.
Typical duration is 2 hours. The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis.
Expect swelling with some bruising in the face and eyelids that subsides after a few days. Some difficulty with facial expression is common during the first couple of days. Sutures are removed after 7 days. A compression garment needs to be worn for 3 weeks after the surgery.
